REVIEW OF ALLMAX NUTRITION ISOFLEX BARS

AllMax Nutrition claims that the IsoFlex Protein Bars:
AllMax is almost completely honest in its claim (which israre in the supplement industry). However, don't label them as boy scouts justyet. AllMax may claim that the IsoFlex Protein bars contain only 1 gram of"sugar" but this isn't entirely true. In fact, IsoFlex Protein bars contain 32grams of carbohydrates but more important than the total is where that totalcame from. I wouldn't recommend these protein bars any other time thanpost-workout. For those of you who are a little more observant, you're probablythinking that I'm completely wrong. You're sitting there saying, "Hey wait asecond! The carbohydrate content is mostly from sugar alcohol not refined tablesugar…you're wrong!" Now, just hold on a second. Yes, the actual "sugar"content is only 1 gram. However, there is 14 grams of maltitol, 8 grams oflactitol and 1.5 grams of glycerine. Although these sugar alcohols are lower incaloric content and have less of an effect on blood glucose than regular sugar,in excessive amounts, they can be just as harmful as a substantially highintake of regular sugar. Furthermore, if your goal is lower carbohydrateintake, be especially conscious of what carbohydrates are present. To find outhow the different sugar alcohols compare, I'd recommend this website http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar_alcohol,just check out the table in the lower right corner. Therefore, be aware aboutwhere all these extra carbohydrates are coming from, especially if you're on adiet to lose weight. I find it particularly difficult to find low carbohydrateprotein bars. If you're able, I'd recommend a healthy meal. Nutrient timing isparticularly important. Carbohydrates are not the enemy when on a diet to loseweight. However, carbohydrates should be limited when weight loss is the goal.Furthermore, most of your carbohydrate intake should be from complexcarbohydrates. Save simple carbohydrates for post-workout (immediately after aworkout) to replenish the glycogen lost during a workout and effectivelyshuttle vital nutrients into the muscle cells, via the insulin boost which is aresponse to these simple carbohydrates (fast-digesting sugars). However, if youneed something other than post-workout and time is a factor, I'd recommend alow carbohydrate protein shake instead of the protein bar, because it's notdifficult to find a low carbohydrate whey protein that is actually low incarbohydrates.

I sampled the Chocolate Marshmallow Fudge and the ChocolateCaramel Crunch flavours. It should be noted that both flavours which I sampledcontain nuts.
Let's begin with the Chocolate Marshmallow Fudge flavour. Ifound that it had a tasty marshmallow chocolate blend, which was not overlychewy. Being chewy isn't necessarily a bad thing. However, sometimes Iencounter protein bars which are so dry and/or chewy that it's a task in itselfjust to eat the thing! When this occurs, it's difficult to enjoy protein bar. Therefore, I was very pleased with the Chocolate Marshmallow Fudge flavour. Inregards to taste, I award the Chocolate Marshmallow Fudge flavour a 7.5/10.
Next, I sampled the Chocolate Caramel Crunch flavour. Ifound that it had a light chocolate and distinct caramel taste. However, to mydispleasure, it was a bit dry and required a great deal of chewing. In regardsto taste, I award the Chocolate Caramel Crunch a 6/10.
Texture is especially important when it comes to somethingyou plan on eating regularly or even for the odd snack to treat yourself. Forme, if something has a bad texture, I find it extremely difficult to consume. For example, I can't eat cottage cheese. The taste coupled with the awfultexture makes it way to difficult to do on a regular basis. For those of youthat are able to do this, I commend you. Anyways, enough small talk, let's getto it.
The Chocolate Marshmallow Fudge flavour had a fairly softtexture, which required minimal chewing to consume. In regards to texture, everything was in sync. Therefore, I award the Chocolate Marshmallow Fudgeflavour a 8/10 for texture.
The Chocolate Caramel Crunch flavour had both a soft andcrunchy texture. This is most likely due to the soft caramel coupled with thecrunchy nuts. However, something about this differed from the previous flavour.I found that this one required a great deal more chewing. Therefore, I awardthe Chocolate Caramel Crunch flavour a 6/10 for texture.
AllMax claims that when you're looking for a convenientprotein snack IsoFlex protein bars are a great-tasting high protein and lowsugar option that will fit into your active lifestyle. I agree that IsoFlex proteinbars are a convenient way to get your protein intake on the go. Also, theprotein bars are fairly good tasting. However, I do not agree that they are alow sugar option. See category "The Claim" at the top of the review forfurther details.
On top of that, Allmax claims that each bar contains 30grams of high-quality protein, Omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids as well asessential vitamins and minerals. Even though these bars taste delicious you'dbe surprised to hear they only contain 1 gram of sugar per bar. The sugar foundin these bars have a minimal impact on blood sugar and insulin so they are anideal option for your body-shaping plan. These bars due include a nice varietyof different protein sources. However, in regards to the Omega 3 and 6essential fatty acids, the label says it contains 0 grams of both. Again withthe low sugar claim, this claim is misleading. See category "The Claim" at the top of the review for further details.
Furthermore, AllMax claims that if you've carried otherprotein bars around with you in your gym bag or knapsack you may have beenannoyed when you opened your bar to discover it had melted into a sticky mess.Well, that won't happen with ISOFLEX bars as they have been created with anadvanced cold-flow chilling process. This process prevents protein degradationand post-production melting. I'm not sure about the validity of this claim. However, in AllMax Nutrition's defence, the bars I sampled were not melted.
It is of particular importance to have a diet made up ofwhole foods for the most part. However, there is nothing wrong withsupplementing your diet (for convenience, health, taste, etc.) to help you withyour strength and physique goals. I wouldn't say this protein bar is thehealthiest choice. However, you could consider it your cheat day desert.
When it comes to taste, as you can see above, my care forthe taste varied with different flavours. I found the texture of this productvaried with different flavours as well. In regards to effectiveness, I don'thold AllMax Nutrition IsoFlex Protein Bar with high esteem. Therefore, I awardthe AllMax Nutrition IsoFlex Protein Bar with a 6.5/10 for an overall review.
