I'm sure you've heard of "The Ketogenic Diet" and "Ketosis" before now (Does Dan Duchaine's Bodyopus ring a bell). I had, although to tell you the truth until a close friend of mine (I'll call him Tom) recently lost an incredible amount of FAT ONLY I never really took much notice.

Get this. I have personally witnessed Tom - a 33 year oldguy, hardly without any exercise, and doing NO aerobics lose 27 pounds of fat in 10 weeks. Bear in mind we are talking about a guy who sits behind a PC all day and whose exercise is limited to walking the dog twice a day.

Towards the end of the diet he started to lift weights again (something he hadn't previously done for a few years). This actually resulted in an increase in lean body mass (muscle) whilst he continued to lose fat at the same time.

His bodyfat %age dropped from 18% to 9% in 10 weeks - with barely any exercise!

Imagine what would have happened had this guy been on a cutting cycle and training hard. Hell he would have been at well under 9%

Let's take a quick look at why "Keto" is so effective...

When the body is in a ketogenic state it means that the body will start breaking down your own body fat to fuel it's normal, every day functions.

Re-read this last line again.

The main benefit of Keto is that it increases the body's ability to utilize fats for fuel, (which gets very lazy on a high carbohydrate diet). When on high carbohydrate diets the body can usually expect an energy source to keep entering the body. But in the state of ketosis the body has to become efficient at mobilizing fats as energy.

Another cool thing about being in a state of ketosis is that if the body has no further use for ketones they can simply be excreted through urine as a waste product. This means that at times your body will be peeing out body fat!

There are more benefits to Keto (like it's protein sparing effect etc. etc.) although I'm not going to go into it all here. The best resource for a full and complete understanding of how you can use Keto to literally rip fat off can be found here.

I downloaded a copy myself and with the info contained in it, it will be dead easy to get into Keto right away. I've seen it work incredibly effectively at first hand with "Tom" so even though there is a certain amount of debate around the theme - I actually know it works because I have just seen it!
