PROMAX PROMAX BARS Review By Steven Sidorski
Hey there this is Steven Sidorski and I hope you are doing well with your goals and what not. The protein bar I am reviewing today is Promax which is brought to you not surprisingly by Promax Nutrition. The two flavours featured in this review are Cookies 'n Cream and Double Fudge Brownie.
Perhaps the most important thing about this bar is neither the taste nor nutrition but the price itself. I had to pay $3.28 each at Safeway but when I looked on http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/promax/promax.html I saw the price was only $1.29 each!
Anyway, the first thing I noticed when I opened the Cookies 'n Cream flavour of the Promax bar, it has an outside white coating that both tasted and resembled quite closely to the cream in the middle of the famous Oreo cookies. According to the ingredients its yogurt. Anyway the bar tasted so good that I devoured it quickly and I give it a rating of five out of five for taste. It definitely lived up to the Promax claim which states "The Promax Bar Is The Best Tasting Bar On The Market!" The only problem with this bar is the lack of nutrition associated. For example a 75g bar only has 20g of protein and yet it is called a protein bar. In addition to that you have 4.5g of saturated fat, 28g of sugar and only 1g of fibre. You might as well be drinking Egg Nog! So therefore I give it a two and a half out of five for nutrition.
As for the Double Fudge Brownie bar, it also tasted very good. The outside layer, which covers the fudgy whey protein middle, is chocolate or at least it tastes and looks like it. Perhaps it was too rich for me so maybe they could have toned down the sweetness of the bar. It is perfect to drink with lots of milk though. My taste gave it a four out of five and my impartial rating for nutrition is a three out of five for having 3g of fibre to go along with the 4.5g of saturated fat, 24g of sugar and a respectable 3g of fibre. Both flavours pack nearly 40g of carbohydrates!
Here is more information about Promax bars directly from a seller: All natural. 20 grams of protein, vitamins, minerals & antioxidants, wholesome & nutritious. We've made your favorite bars all natural without changing the delicious rich taste! To perform at your best, we've loaded Promax Bars with 20 grams of high quality protein, natural energy-sustaining carbohydrates, essential vitamins and minerals, and amino acids. Whether you are an athlete or just someone on-the-go looking for a healthy and nutritious snack, Promax bars deliver results!
My advice is not to buy them for yourself but to buy them for that special somebody who may just be starting to get interested in the whole working out routine. The reason I say that is because of the appalling lack of nutrition it gives you. If that person tells you how bad the bar is nutritiously, which may happen because it is obvious that the bar is lacking nutrition, just tell them you will buy them more nutritious bars once you see them getting more serious about adapting to that kind of lifestyle where you must sacrifice a lot of short-term pleasures; including these particular Promax bars. Also, Promax bars a lot better for you than those other chocolate bars and just as affordable!
In addition to the warning on the BodyBuilding.com website, there are additional potentially harmful ingredients associated with both flavours not listed on that website. You need to know the bar contains the following allergens: soy, dairy, wheat, peanuts and tree nuts / almonds. In addition, both products are produced in a factory with soy, dairy, egg and wheat ingredients, peanuts, seeds, fish and tree nuts.
Promax protein bars are imported into Canada by Nutrition Club Canada, North Bay, ON P1B 8Z4. Their toll free number is 1-800-586-9086.
