Directions:

Syntrax Nectar Sweets Review by Matt Canning

The 2007 Mr. Olympia contest was a great place for me to check out because I got so many free samples of so many different types of supplements. I got a variety of creatine supplements, NO supplements, and of course, protein supplements! I received many packets of "Syntrax Nectar Sweets" in the chocolate truffle flavour and looked forward to giving them a try. In the past, I had received many full tubs of various protein powders for review purposes, but in the spirit of efficiency, I will only be ordering sample packs of protein powders in the future. Since both bodybuilding.com as well as numerous supplement manufacturer's have been kind enough to provide me with the supplements free of charge, I may as well operate in this type of efficient manner. I will of course order a few full tubs of protein powder for review since I do drink protein shakes regularly, so having one tub on hand for my daily consumption is important. I should also point out that I'm reviewing this supplement with my protein shake in front of me! It is always good to do that, rather than have to rely on memory. :)

Taste:

Syntrax Nectar in the chocolate truffle flavour definitely passes the taste test. Like a lot of chocolate protein blends, it has just about the same taste as chocolate milk when mixed. I was not at home when I prepared my shake and generally when I am at home I would use skim milk, but in this case I used 2% milk. I quite liked the result!

Mixability/Texture:

I mixed the shake in a glass with milk, stirring it with a spoon. I found that it mixed well for the most part but it did clump at the top of the glass somewhat. More stirring helped matters a little, but it didn't mix instantly and was not quite as easy to mix in a glass as some of the other premium blends that I've tried (for example, Syntha-6 by BSN). All in all, it was adequate though, and should mixing be a problem, I would recommend mixing it in a blender and if you do decide to do that, I would further recommend that you mix it with fruit such as a banana, and possibly some other ingredients. Blenders work very well to mix all ingredients together in a manner where the taste is consistent as is the overall quality of the shake.

Digestibility:

Although I just consumed the shake moments ago, I highly doubt I will have any problems digesting it and if I do I will make a note of that in the forum link for this review found below. I have never had a problem digesting protein and I doubt I ever will. As of this moment, I feel perfectly fine and if I was experiencing the onset of digesting problems, I'm sure that I would be aware.

Effectiveness:

Once again, it is difficult to write about the effectiveness of a food supplement. What I do know is that one serving contains 23 grams of protein and a total of 100 calories which makes it a great bodybuilding snack if consumed alone, or better yet, with milk and a piece of fruit.

Overall Review:

This is a good tasting protein which delivers in terms of nutrition and does not contain a great deal of undesired additives. I would definitely recommend it to help meet your bodybuilding needs.
