For the DVD shoot, Troy was training at Fitness One:

Troy starts off his routine with a set of thigh adductors for a warmup, following with his full split for quads hitting up the following exercises and sets:
  • Leg Extensions (four sets).
  • Squats - 225X9, 315X10, 315X10.
  • Hack Squats (four plates per side, then five plates per side).
  • Lunges (on the spot for one set).

Troy hits some leg posing after his second set, followed by some stretching. His legs are looking cut in his pursuit to etch in more details by the day of the contest.



Chest

Troy worked chest on October 23. His split was as follows:

  • Pec Deck Flyes (six sets).
  • Flat Bench Presses (135 warmup, 225X10, 225X10)
  • Dumbbell Pullovers (three sets).
  • Incline Flyes (three sets).


After Troy hit the pec deck he did some abs posing in his tank top, as well as hitting a front double biceps, hands clasped most muscular, and a front lat spread (looking very thick in this pose). After his first and second set of bench presses, he also did some poses, looking great. He posed in between his sets of incline flyes as well, and said talked about his shoulder development, referencing Kevin Levrone.

After his chest workout was complete, he went outside to pose without a shirt on. He did a relaxed pose, as well as a front double biceps, front lat spread, most muscular variation, right side chest, and a hands clasped most muscular.

Delts

Troy Alves trained his delts on October 24. Troy has some strong shoulders, and he hit the following routine:

  • Side Lateral Raises (two sets).
  • Smith Machine Military Press (135, 225, 225, 225 lbs).
  • Butterflyes for Rear Delts (three sets).
  • Cable Front Raises (two sets).
  • Machine Shrugs (two sets).

After his sets of shrugs, Troy did some posing, including a front double biceps pose and hands clasped most muscular pose. He was looking very sharp and on track for contest day at the 2004 Mr. Olympia Contest.

Arms

Troy hit arms (biceps & triceps) on October 25, 2004. His split was pretty interesting seen below:

  • Triceps Pulldowns & Straight Bar Curls [three times this pair].
  • Triceps Pushdowns & Seated Dumbbell Incline Curls [three times this pair].
  • Seated Machine Press with Wood for Handle & Machine Preacher Curls [three times this pair].

Afterwards, Troy hit some poses in his tank top including a front double biceps, hands clasped most muscular, side triceps, right biceps pose, and 1/2 "Myth" pose (hands overhead ALA Sergio Oliva. Not many can do the full myth pose these days with the notable exception of Lee Priest. He showed us his biceps which were showing excellent separation and condition, and followed his posing up with a right side chest pose.

  • Triangle Bar Pulldowns (three sets).
  • Long Bar Cable Rows (three sets).
  • Rope Pulls (row movement for back).


Troy hit a front lat spread after his second set of triangle bar pulldowns and was looking good. He also did some posing after his second set of rope pulls, hitting a front double biceps shot.

Afterwards, Troy headed outside in his tank top and hit a rear lat spread. Then he took his tank top off and hit the following poses:

  • Rear Double Biceps.
  • Rear Lat Spread.
  • Hands Clasped Most Muscular.
  • Abs with Right Biceps Flexed.
  • Front Double Biceps.
  • Front Lat Spread.
  • Left Arm Flexed (some front shots).
  • Front Relaxed Pose.

On October 9, 2004, Troy Alves competed in the 2004 GNC Show of Strength. He showed up in good condition and placed fifth against a tough lineup. The DVD shows some footage as well as Troy posing in his room the day before the contest. He hit the following poses in his room one day before the show:

  • Front Double Biceps.
  • Right Side Chest.
  • Back Pose.
  • Left Side Triceps.
  • Hands Clasped Most Muscular.
  • Rear Double Biceps.
  • Rear Lat Spread.
  • Left Side Relaxed.
  • Front Shot.
  • Abs & Thigh Pose.

Backstage, Troy got oiled up and hit some more poses, once again, looking great.

  • Front Double Biceps.

  • Rear Double Biceps.
  • Lat Spread.
  • Side Triceps.

Footage was then shown of the posedown between Gustavo Badell, Troy, Branch Warren, and Craig Titus. Troy was looking good and holding his own against the rest of the competitors.

Then came Troy's solo routine, in which he posed to the song "Love's Divine" by Seal. His posing was slow and fluid, with great transitions between one pose and the next. Troy definitely knows how to present his strong points while hiding his weaknesses. His posing has to date, always impressed me thoroughly.

In this sequence, footage from the 2004 Mr. Olympia Expo was featured. This was part of "Meet the Champions" where fans get the chance to meet the competitors and take pictures with them, as well as buy their training videos in many cases.

Like both the other MuscleTime DVDs, this one was very well made and entertaining to watch, and well worth the low price it costs. Again, some complaints about editing, sound and picture pixelation may be present, but those are minor concerns to me. The sound and editing is fine, and although the picture is slightly more pixelated than some other videos I've seen, it isn't something I consciously thought of throughout watching the DVDs. There is enough good sequences and information in this video to get absorbed in the action without thinking about little details like that. Troy Alves is also a very talkative person and gives plenty of insight and tips throughout the video. This isn't the kind of video where it just shows the training and focusses on that. We get to hear commentary by Troy which is always helpful. Overall, I quite enjoyed this DVD and I'm very happy to have it in my growing collection of bodybuilding videos.
